Globe Types

The Metal Halide G12 lamp is a single ended globe that is most commonly used in commercial spaces, store front display windows and other general retail applications. It is a compact lamp that offers stable colour over its lifetime.  The crisp light is highly efficient with a relatively low heat output.  The G12 generally comes in two colours Warm White and Cool White.

Metal halide high bay lighting (also known as elliptical) allows users to illuminate large areas with very few lights commonly used in commercial and industrial locations. High Bay lights generally have an aluminium reflector which allows a beam of light to reflect downwards to the floor area.  Other types of high bay lights have a prismatic reflector which illuminates shelving etc. from the floor to the ceiling.

The double ended metal halide lamps are a high intensity discharge lamps that produce high light output for their size, making them a compact, powerful and efficient light source. These are very common in retail locations and shopping centres commonly used in shop interiors, display windows.  Offering a uniform distribution of light and a long lifespan and high efficiency.  They come in a warm white, neutral white, daylight and cool daylight colours.

Part of the CFL family the PLC lamps are able to provide the same amount of light as the twin tube CFL lamps of an equivalent wattage, the sole difference is that they are half as big as the twin-tube CFLs. For this reason, the PLC compact fluorescent bulbs fit perfectly in small lamps and other similar applications. Also, it must be mentioned that there are two main types of lamps: the 4 pin PLC and the 2 pin PLC. The finish of the lamp should be taken into consideration mainly for aesthetical purposes: the lamps can have a cool white finish, a warm white finish or a special daylight finish.

A smalldirect-lighting unit, usually recessed in the ceiling and directing light downward only.  There are two types of lamps for recessed lighting: directional and diffuse. Directional lamps (R, BR, PAR, and MR) contain reflectors that direct and control the light. Diffuse lamps (A, S, PS, and G) control light distribution through their omni directional light. The housings come in various sizes based on the diameter of the circular opening where the lamp is installed. The most commonly used sizes are 4, 5 and 6 inches in diameter.

This type of halogen is sometimes referred to as two-pin or bi-pin socket. These are used on many small incandescent light bulbs especially halogen lamps.  They provide great illumination and are ideal for mirror lighting, entrance areas and retail shops and office areas.  These lights contain no mercury and have an average lifespan of 2,000 hours.

Halospot lights provide brilliant accent lighting within shops, restaurants, hotels and other prestigious applications. They contain a UV filter and cap for reduced glare and ease of handling.  Average lifespan is 3,000 hours and are 100% dimmable.

The G9 Halogen systems have a variety of practical uses. Instead of a screw base they have two looped prongs of thin metal that look like stiff wires.  They are often used for accent lighting, desk lighting, hanging lights (often called pendant lighting).  In retail these lights are also common set under cabinets and drawers.
